2010 Workshops
Hosted by the Orem Public Library on Thursday, September 2, this full day of workshops includes instruction from the best storytellers and performers in the nation.

Attendees can pre-purchase a lunch ($8) that will be served at the library, bring a sack lunch, or eat at a variety of places within walking distance. Some area hotels will provide shuttle service to the workshops.

Workshop 1: Ed Stivender - "Fast on Your Feet: Improvisations" Experience the art of improvisation through demonstration and simple ensemble exercises designed to get you "in-the-flow." This is story theatre style to prepare you for performance surprises! | |||

Workshop 2: Tim Tingle - "Collecting Stories: The Power of Preserving" Learn the techniques and importance of recording the stories that surround us. An avid collector and author of six books based on his own experience in the world of memories, Tingle will guide participants through the sensitive work of taking memories of another and creating a written or performance piece. Become a collector of your family's most cherished stories. | |||

| 1:00-3:30 p.m. | Workshop 3: Kim Weitkamp - "Everyone's Got One" Use Memory Mapping to discover you have a story to tell! Simple steps will show you how to turn your memory into a well-crafted story people will ask to hear again and again. Great for beginning storytellers and those wanting to add more material to their repertoire. | |||
| 1:00-3:30 p.m. | Workshop 4: Motoko - "Bodystories: Mime and Movement for Storytellers" Come ready to move and have fun! Using mime, movement, and improvisation, Motoko will guide you through exercises that will enhance your "physical eloquence." Whether you tell professionally or with kids in the classroom or at home, this workshop will help you "activate" your storytelling! | |||
